Prisma offers a portable, unobtrusive meditative tool suitable for use in various environments, such as on crowded public transport, during brief work breaks, or while waiting in line. Its design facilitates brief moments of calm through a tactile and visual experience that emphasizes slow, deliberate breathing alongside the movement of beads.

I. Beads – The application employs the universal imagery of beads to create a meditative focus. This visual and physical interaction with each bead serves to anchor thoughts and intentions. The process of selecting, examining closely, and moving from one bead to the next promotes inward attention and mindfulness.

II. Breath – Central to stress reduction and meditation, controlling the breath is visually guided by the Breath Rate Meter at the top of the interface. The meter offers a visual cue that mimics breathing patterns—filling with color on inhalation, emptying on exhalation—encouraging users to slow and deepen their breath. This process supports physical relaxation and overall well-being.

III. Audio – Complementing the visual experience are sounds derived from Tibetan gongs, wooden chimes, or nature recordings. These auditory signals reinforce breathing rhythms and foster a meditative atmosphere that directs focus inward, minimizing external distractions.

The application allows for customization of images and sounds, facilitating adaptation to different meditative or spiritual practices.

Application Settings –

Using the Breath Rate Meter:

• The default setting reflects an average adult respiratory rate of 12 breaths per minute. Users may adjust this by tapping the icon and sliding the control bar.
• For practices such as yoga breathing, which often involve slower rates (~6 breaths per minute), adjustments can be made accordingly.
• Individual factors like age, fitness level, or health conditions may influence suitable breath rates; consulting a healthcare professional or trainer is advisable for personalized goals.

Beads:

• A variety of bead designs are available; selections can be made by tapping the corresponding icon.

Backgrounds:

• Multiple background options are offered; users can select preferred visuals by tapping on images.
• Experimenting with different bead-background combinations can enhance the visual and meditative experience.

Audio:

• Activate sounds by toggling the “on” button; a sampling of available sounds can be previewed via the green arrow icon.
• Final selection is made by tapping the desired sound option.
• Loudness levels are adjustable through the “Settings” icon accessible from the main screen.
